  1. I just discovered your website while researching the falls st Hetch Hetchy. Interesting stuff! I like your names for the 3 Rancheria Falls and Kolana Falls. I look forward to seeing them next month!

    • I hope you have a good trip out there but be warned: the falls are likely to be dry or just a trickle. This is the driest time of the year and last winter was not a heavy snow year, which compounds the likelyhood that there will be little water. It’s still a beautiful area thought!

  2. Thank you for the excellent article! In addition to the excellent early map, it would be nice to have some other references, such as the federal Yosemite-boundary laws of 1890 and 1906. By the way, over the years I have read statements in reputable articles/books that Ediza Lake was the favorite place in the High Sierra of both Ansel Adams and Walter Starr, Jr (the author of Starr’s Guide to the John Muir Trail and the High Sierra Region).
